Strolling along Whatcom Creek

Whatcom Creek flows through Bellingham from Lake Whatcom down into Bellingham Bay.

There are a number of trail sections that follow the creek along its path. One section of this trail begins near the intersection of Iowa and Woburn streets, behind the car dealers along Iowa Street.

I took a 30 minute walk to check out this section of trail on my lunch break last week and found it a little scenic, but not very scenic. There are some unique views, including an abandoned house, grafitti on a bridge and a lot of damage from the flooding last month.

My guess is that this section of trail will be much more enjoyable come spring, summer and fall.

Here was a nice spot of color right at the start of the trail:

My turnaround point was at a brightly colored totem pole:

There were a few other walkers and joggers on the trail as well, and the trail itself is in great condition.

Hopefully I'll be able to find some more pleasing images on future visits.
